Oh, I’ll take you somewhere. “To the moon Alice!”
Taking a honeymoon has its roots in the ancient days of bride capture. Once a man snagged his woman, they needed to get away to calm family emotions. Hopefully when the couple returned, everyone would be ready to acknowledge the marriage. You’re probably not escaping her family…yet. But regardless, some R&R after the I do’s is in order.
The average honeymoon lasts eight days and costs $3,700 (including transportation, lodging, meals and all those great sightseeing bus tours).
On your trip, be sure to tell everyone you are on your honeymoon. You might get bumped or upgraded. Also, if you have room in your suitcase, bring extra wedding favors as thank you’s for the people who go out of their way to help. Of course, a bigger tip would always be preferred, but one of your favors is a nice extra.
Also, be sure to order champagne and/or a fruit basket to be set up before you check in. Just another way to tell your bride how much you love her.
