You’re going to meet a ton of wedding vendors. And pay a ton of money to get out in one piece. Here are a few questions you should ask. To impress the vendor. To impress your bride. Or to get out of the next visit.

And when you ask these questions, don’t forget to lean in a bit when speaking.
Intimidate where possible.
Cave when necessary.

Wedding coordinator	Do you work for a flat fee? Can we speak to some former clients? Do you attend each wedding? Do you come with us for each vendor meeting? How many weddings have you done? What types of packages do you offer?
Photographer	Can we see pictures of your work? Can we contact former clients? How many photos do you plan on taking? Do you use digital cameras? Can we keep the negatives or digital copies? What style(s) will you do (e.g., B&W, candid)?
Videographer	Can we see videos of your work? Can we contact former clients? How long will you film? Do you use professional equipment? Is there an extra charge for additional tapes or DVDs? What type of lighting will you bring? How many cameras do you use?
Tuxedo store	(if out of town wedding) Can we pick up tuxes at a local shop? Is the groom’s tux free? Do you have other locations where groomsmen can be fitted?
Bridal dress store	How long does it take to make/alter the dress? Can you store the dress until the wedding? How many fittings do you offer? Why am I talking to you blindfolded?
Florist	Is there an extra charge for deliver, setup or breakdown? How many events will you do this day? Can you preserve any flowers for keepsake? Have you worked at our location before? Do you have any references?
Officient	(if applicable) Is it ok we are from different religions? (if applicable) Is it ok one/both of us are divorced? (if applicable) Do we have to belong to your church or synagogue? Can we write our own vows? Do we have to have counseling?
Ceremony location	How many guests can we have? Can we take pictures inside? Can we videotape the ceremony? What music can we play? Are there any attire guidelines?
Reception location	How many guests can we have? Are there other events planned the same day? Do you offer other services (e.g., catering)? Are we required to use certain services (e.g., linens)? Are there any usage (e.g., decoration, music, alcohol) restrictions? How many hours do we have the location?
Caterer	Is there a guaranteed minimum number of guests? Can we do a taste testing? How many servers will there be (1 server for 8-10 guests) Can you make my mom’s meatloaf? What is the cost per person for food? Alcohol?
Cake baker	What designs can you do? Can we do a taste testing? Is there a set-up charge?
Music (orchestra cocktail hour, DJ and/or band)	What is your song list? Do you have all the equipment you need? Do you have music samples? Can you do special requests? During (if DJ) or before (if band). Can we see you in action?
Transportation	What cars do you offer? Do you provide champagne or other drinks? Can we speak to former clients? Is there a cleaning fee? Do you offer a multi-car discount?
Stationary	What types of printing process do you offer? What is your turnaround time? How many weddings to do you in a year? Can you produce all of the materials (announcement, invitation, response cards, thank you notes, party favors, maps, place cards, wedding program)? Do you offer calligraphy services?
Honeymoon/planner	What travel requirements are there (e.g., visa, vaccinations)? Do you offer travel insurance? Do you have a 24hour contact number? What are the local customs?
